TSB's latest Watchlist highlights key safety risks in commercial fishing
The Transportation Safety Board (TSB) has released its latest Watchlist, highlighting key safety issues in air, marine, and rail sectors. Commercial fishing has been on the Watchlist since 2010 and every year, the TSB reminds us that safety at sea is still a concern for fishermen.
Over the years, TSB investigations have found that many fatal fishing vessel accidents often involve lifesaving equipment not being used or properly maintained and unsafe work practices that could have been prevented.

Through Fish Safe’s Safest Catch Program, we work directly with fishermen to develop safety management systems, improve awareness around safety equipment maintenance and promote safer work practices on board. The program also offers support for managing fatigue and provides resources to help address emerging safety issues such as substance abuse.
Our Safety Advisors can meet you right on your vessel to go over these topics, answer questions and provide practical guidance and feedback.
