Saturday's herring sale saw people lining up before 5 am for 50 - 60 tonnes of freshly caught herring in Steveston.  Since 2011 approximately $350,000 has now been raised via the Fishermen Helping Kids with Cancer charity.

Cancer kills more kids aged 1 to 19 years old than any other disease.  Every penny spent on herring helps kids with cancer at BC Children's Hospital.  Since 2011 the herring sale has raised nearly $300,000 for these very sick kids.
