Fish Safe Advisory Committee
The Fish Safe Advisory Committee is the forum for fishing vessel safety in BC. Fishermen from all gear types and fishing organizations attend and send appointed representatives. All regulatory agencies involved in fishing safety sit at the table and work together to resolve current safety issues. Action items are assigned at the end of every meeting and reviewed at the next meeting.
The Advisory Committee meets a minimum of twice per year. Committee members are responsible to report on safety issues to the committee and to relate this information back to their sector. Fishermen, fishing companies, naval architects, marine educators, marine insurers, fishing organizations, Department of Fisheries and Oceans Canada, Transport Canada, Canadian Coast Guard and WorkSafeBC regularly attend. If you are interested in being involved in this committee please contact us to make sure your are on the list for meeting updates or check out the website for the next meeting.
